Making Gurugram a Zero Rain-Water Outflow City

The Boondh Rain Water Conservation Project is a sustainable initiative aimed at addressing the pressing water scarcity crisis in Gurugram by capturing and reusing rainwater. This project focuses on reducing flooding, replenishing groundwater, and fostering long-term water conservation practices within the community.

What we do

Groundwater Recharge

Recharge nearly 75 lakh liters of groundwater annually to support sustainability.

Enhancing Soil Moisture

Improve soil health by retaining moisture, enriching nutrients, and benefiting local agriculture.

Flood Prevention

Reduce runoff and mitigate flooding during the monsoon season.

Community Education

Raise awareness through educational campaigns on water conservation.

Our Impact

Environmental Impact

The initiative aims to recharge 75 lakh liters of groundwater annually, helping to mitigate environmental risks associated with flooding and waterlogging.

Social Impact

The goal is to enhance community engagement through educational campaigns and provide a sustainable water supply, reducing dependency on municipal sources.

Economic Impact

Reduce water bills by using harvested rainwater for non-drinking purposes like irrigation, toilet flushing, and other daily needs, leading to cost savings and promoting resource conservation.

Our Vision for the Future

Our goal is to expand this project across Gurugram, making it a Zero Rain-Water Outflow City. This expansion will involve building additional RWH structures, educating more community members, and promoting water conservation throughout the region.

The Process

Survey and Site Selection

Comprehensive surveys are carried out to identify the most effective sites for installing rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems. The selected locations typically include government schools, Anganwadis, and other public spaces.

Design and Construction

The design and construction of 14 rainwater harvesting (RWH) structures aim to capture and store rainwater. These systems are built using durable materials and sustainable construction practices for long-term functionality.

Awareness Campaigns

Local communities are engaged through workshops, street plays (nukkad nataks), and educational programs. These initiatives focus on The 5 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recharge, and Respect water.

Why this matters

In the face of climate change and rapid urbanization, water scarcity is a growing concern. The Boondh Rain Water Conservation Project aims to tackle this challenge head-on by reducing water outflow and replenishing groundwater supplies. By harnessing rainwater through these systems, we can build a water-secure Gurugram, where every drop counts.
